Med school interview prep

Rehearse your interview out loud, not in your head.

CallViva is an AI interview coach that calls your phone, runs a realistic traditional or MMI interview, and then tells you exactly what to fix before the real thing.

How it works

Three steps, one phone call.

Interviews are spoken. So is your practice. No webcam, no app to install: just your phone and a quiet room.

01

Press “Call me now”

Pick a format: a traditional one-on-one, an MMI circuit, or a 6-minute warm-up. Your phone rings within seconds.

02

Do the interview

Your interviewer tells you up front that it's an AI coach, then stays in role: one question at a time, real follow-up probes, and patience while you think.

03

Get debriefed

Right after the last question you hear quick spoken feedback. Minutes later, a written report with scores and action items arrives in your dashboard and inbox.

Interview formats

Practice the interview you'll actually get.

Questions rotate, so every session is different. You won't hear the same question again until you've worked through the bank.

≈ 30 MIN

Traditional

A one-on-one interview like the ones most schools run.

  • Tell me about yourself & why medicine
  • Clinical and research experiences
  • Teamwork, failure & growth
  • An ethics question and a healthcare issue
≈ 32 MIN

MMI circuit

Four Multiple Mini Interview stations, each with a scenario read aloud, thinking time and follow-up probes.

  • Ethical dilemma station
  • Healthcare policy station
  • Role-play communication station
  • Personal station
≈ 6 MIN

Quick practice

Two questions and a debrief. Good for a warm-up the morning of an interview.

  • Two questions, drawn from the full bank
  • Spoken debrief at the end
  • Same written report as a full session
The written report

Feedback you can act on tonight.

Vague advice like “be more confident” doesn't help you improve. Each point in your report quotes what you actually said and shows you a stronger version.

Scores on seven dimensions

Motivation, structure, specific examples, ethical reasoning, communication, self-reflection and healthcare awareness.

Rewrites in your own words

Each improvement comes with an example rewrite built only from facts you actually said.

A plan for next time

Prioritized action items and a recommended focus for your next mock interview.

StrengthI learned that asking for help is not a weakness… you have to know when to consult someone else. You linked your failure to a physician skill. That's the step most applicants skip.
ImproveYour “why medicine” answer opened with a generic line (“science and helping people”) before your strongest material: 60 hours with a family doctor who kept long relationships with patients.
“In 60 hours shadowing a family physician, I watched her keep relationships with patients over years. That continuity is why I want to be a physician…” Lead with what you saw, then explain why only a physician's role fits.
  1. Rewrite your “why medicine” answer so it opens with one specific shadowing moment. Say it aloud 3× in under 90 seconds.
  2. For ethics questions, avoid absolute answers (“never”). Name the competing principles, weigh them, then commit to an answer.
Why a phone call

Knowing your answers isn't the same as saying them.

Most applicants prepare by reading question lists. On interview day, what trips them up is speaking under pressure.

Think on your feet

Follow-up probes react to what you actually said, the way a real interviewer's would.

Hear your filler words

Your transcript shows the “um”s, the rambles and the answers that never got to the point.

Practice any time

11pm before a 9am interview? No need to book a tutor or ask a friend to role-play again.

See your progress

Every session is saved with its scores, so you can see which areas are improving.

Questions

Fair questions.

Am I talking to a real person?

No. Your interviewer is an AI coach, and it says so in its first sentence on every call. It's built specifically for medical school interview formats (traditional and MMI), but it isn't a human admissions officer.

Is CallViva affiliated with any medical school or the AAMC?

No. CallViva is an independent practice tool. We don't represent any school, and we can't tell you what a particular school is looking for.

Will it tell me whether I'll get in?

No, and you should be wary of anything that claims it can. CallViva gives you practice feedback on how you communicated in this mock interview. Admissions decisions depend on far more than one conversation.

Is the call recorded? What happens to my transcript?

Yes. The call is recorded and transcribed so we can write your feedback report, and the interviewer tells you this at the start of the call. Your transcript and report appear only in your account. See the privacy policy for details and how to request deletion.

What if I need to stop halfway?

Just say so. The interviewer will skip to the debrief using what you've covered. If the call ends in the first couple of minutes, your session credit is refunded automatically.

Which phone numbers work?

US and Canadian mobile and landline numbers. You'll verify your number with a text message code, and we only ever call the number you verified.

Does it help with CASPer or written secondaries?

Not right now. CallViva is for spoken interviews: traditional one-on-one and MMI.
